Chatham-Kent Home Hardware Building Center has proudly served the community from the same location for more than 50 years. The store’s history dates back to 1972, when Beaver Lumber was purchased by Molson Incorporated. It continued operating under the Beaver Lumber name until 1999, when the company was acquired by Home Hardware. The Beaver Lumber brand was officially retired in December 2000, and the store became Chatham-Kent Home Building Center. A few years later, the name was updated once more to Chatham-Kent Home Hardware Building Center, allowing the business to offer the full range of products available through Home Hardware Stores Limited.
In 1993, three local entrepreneurs became Beaver Lumber franchisees, guiding the store through decades of growth and change. Over the years, ownership evolved as some partners retired and others joined. Two of the original members remained actively involved until the business was sold to the current owners in 2023. The transition kept the store’s legacy in the family, with Ryan Arens and Graham Young taking the lead.
Today, Chatham-Kent Home Hardware Building Centre remains proudly family-owned and locally operated—continuing a tradition of community-focused service that has lasted more than 30 years, with many more to come.
